Provides case management and services for anyone age 18 or older is has a history of substance abuse. Accepts clients with AHCCCS but will refer all other insurances. Program provides these services for the Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, and Santa Cruz Counties. Receives referrals from anywhere. Length in program is as needed, however, in-patient care is 3-6 days. Provides socialization and peer support for adults with mental health and/or substance abuse issues. Trained staff and volunteers encourage recovery through peer support, self-advocacy and the
importance of recovery attitudes. Includes assistance with job search and resource information. Also organizes various free outings and activities such as bowling, hiking, baseball games, conferences, etc. Transportation is included. Meets in Benson on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and in Douglas on Tuesdays.

Verhelst Recovery House provides residential treatment facility for men with an alcohol or drug problem. Includes 12-step program, AA and NA support group meetings, and work therapy. Some esidents rehabilitate donated furniture for resale and occasionally perform odd jobs in the community. Capacity: 10.

Trained Community Health Workers educate pregnant and postpartum women on all aspects of pregnancy and family life with young children. Program supports the first time pregnant women with health information regarding her pregnancy to assist with a more positive outcome. Program also provides a post-partum depression assessment so that clients may be referred to the appropriate services needed. After birth, the program conducts home safety checks and monitor the growth and development of the baby through a screening known as “Ages and Stages” so that clients can be referred to outside assistance as needed. Services are provided using the home visitation model.
